Overview

Professional, scientific and technical activities

Exports from the Professional, scientific and technical activities sector in 2024 grew by 6,817.4% compared to the previous year, while imports from the sector grew by 18.2%. As a result, the trade balance was 1.8 million, 258.8% higher than the previous year.

Professional, scientific and technical activities sector achieved positive growth in the foreign direct investment (FDI) stock at the end of 2024, which amounted to 37.8 billion, compared to the FDI stock of 2023, which was 30.4 billion.

The inflows of FDI in the Professional, scientific and technical activities sector grew by 65.5% in 2024 compared to the previous year, whereas the outflows of FDI showed an increase of 261.9% compared to previous period. Thus, the net flows amounted to 7.3 billion in 2024, while in 2023, it recorded 5.2 billion.

The overall distribution of the employed in the Professional, scientific and technical activities sector reached 2.7% in fourth quarter of 2025, increased from last quarter by 0.18 percentage points (pp) and decreased from a year ago by 0.39 pp.

For its part, the average weekly working hours was 43.4 hours in the third quarter of 2023, registering a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous period and a decrease of 0.2% compared to the same quarter of 2022.

The operating revenues of the sector reached 60.6 billion in 2024, an increase of 11.8% compared to the previous year. For its part, the operating expenses amounted to 23.3 billion, showing an increase of 11.7% compared to the previous period. As a result, the operating surplus of the Professional, scientific and technical activities sector was 26.2 billion, 10.6% higher than the previous period.

Commercial Bank Credit

During April 2026, the Professional, scientific and technical activities sector secured 18.7 billion in commercial bank credits, higher by 1% than the value of the previous month and higher by 96.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.
