Overview

Other service activities

In the Other service activities sector, the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 3.5% in first quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The seasonally adjusted real GDP increased by 3.8%, while the nominal GDP increased by 7.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Exports from the Other service activities sector in 2025 grew by 103.8% compared to the previous year, while imports from the sector grew by 11.9%. As a result, the trade balance was -2.0 billion, 79.1% higher than the previous year.

Other service activities sector achieved positive growth in the foreign direct investment (FDI) stock at the end of 2024, which amounted to 334.3 million, compared to the FDI stock of 2023, which was 248.7 million.

The inflows of FDI in the Other service activities sector grew by 36.4% in 2024 compared to the previous year, whereas the outflows of FDI showed an increase of 1,846.9% compared to previous period. Thus, the net flows amounted to 85.5 million in 2024, while in 2023, it recorded 155.4 million.

The overall distribution of the employed in the Other service activities sector reached 31.0% in fourth quarter of 2025, increased from last quarter by 0.31 percentage points (pp) and increased from a year ago by 2.9 pp.

For its part, the average weekly working hours was 44.1 hours in the third quarter of 2023, registering a decrease of 0.2% compared to the previous period and an increase of 1% compared to the same quarter of 2022.

The operating revenues of the sector reached 36.8 billion in 2024, an increase of 8.1% compared to the previous year. For its part, the operating expenses amounted to 15.5 billion, showing an increase of 6.4% compared to the previous period. As a result, the operating surplus of the Other service activities sector was 11.7 billion, 8% higher than the previous period.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

In the first quarter of 2026, the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Other service activities amounted to 115.8 billion. Additionally, the nominal GDP recorded a value of 120.3 billion, while the seasonally adjusted real GDP stood at 112.1 billion.

In April 2026, the value of points of sale (POS) transactions amounted to 16.5 billion in the Other service activities sector, being 5.5% lower than the previous month and 1.5% higher than the same month from the previous year.

Exports of the Other service activities sector reached 19.3 billion in 2025. The primary destinations for these exports were Republic of India ( 7.8 billion), People's Republic of China ( 3.5 billion), and United Arab Emirates ( 2.8 billion).
