Education

Education sector achieved positive growth in the foreign direct investment (FDI) stock at the end of 2024, which amounted to 3.4 billion, compared to the FDI stock of 2023, which was 3.3 billion.

The inflows of FDI in the Education sector grew by 24.7% in 2024 compared to the previous year, whereas the outflows of FDI showed an increase of 2,835.5% compared to previous period. Thus, the net flows amounted to 153.7 million in 2024, while in 2023, it recorded 171.2 million.

The overall distribution of the employed in the Education sector reached 5.8% in fourth quarter of 2025, increased from last quarter by 0.33 percentage points (pp) and decreased from a year ago by 0.36 pp.

For its part, the average weekly working hours was 37.1 hours in the third quarter of 2023, registering an increase of 0.2% compared to the previous period and a decrease of 0% compared to the same quarter of 2022.

The operating revenues of the sector reached 30.8 billion in 2024, an increase of 4.6% compared to the previous year. For its part, the operating expenses amounted to 11.7 billion, showing an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous period. As a result, the operating surplus of the Education sector was 7.9 billion, 10.7% higher than the previous period.

Points of Sale Transactions

In April 2026, the value of points of sale (POS) transactions amounted to 878.8 million in the Education sector, being 117.7% higher than the previous month and 8.4% higher than the same month from the previous year.

In 2024, the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stock reached 3.4 billion, marking an increased of 4.7% compared to the previous year.

FDI Flow

In 2024, the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Inflow amounted to 216.1 million, while the FDI Outflow stood at 62.4 million. Consequently, the FDI Net Inflow was 153.7 million, reflecting a decreased of 10.2% compared to the previous year.

FDI net inflow: It represents the difference between inflows and outflows of foreign direct investment inflows.

Distribution of the Employed

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the percentage distribution of employed people in Education sector reached 5.8%, with 3.6% for men and 16.7% for women.
