Overview

Arts, entertainment and recreation

Exports from the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector in 2025 grew by 228.0% compared to the previous year, while imports from the sector decreased by 24.9%. As a result, the trade balance was 935.1 million, 194.6% higher than the previous year.

Arts, entertainment and recreation sector achieved positive growth in the foreign direct investment (FDI) stock at the end of 2024, which amounted to 1.8 billion, compared to the FDI stock of 2023, which was 1.7 billion.

The inflows of FDI in the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector decreased by 87.8% in 2024 compared to the previous year, whereas the outflows of FDI showed a decrease of 88.3% compared to previous period. Thus, the net flows amounted to 128.0 million in 2024, while in 2023, it recorded 1.0 billion.

The overall distribution of the employed in the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector reached 0.3% in fourth quarter of 2025, decreased from last quarter by 0 percentage points (pp) and decreased from a year ago by 0.02 pp.

For its part, the average weekly working hours was 42.7 hours in the third quarter of 2023, registering a decrease of 4.5% compared to the previous period and a decrease of 3.7% compared to the same quarter of 2022.

The operating revenues of the sector reached 13.8 billion in 2024, an increase of 12.5% compared to the previous year. For its part, the operating expenses amounted to 4.6 billion, showing an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous period. As a result, the operating surplus of the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector was 6.4 billion, 16% higher than the previous period.

Points of Sale Transactions

In April 2026, the value of points of sale (POS) transactions amounted to 1.4 billion in the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector, being 5.3% lower than the previous month and 8.1% higher than the same month from the previous year.

Exports and Imports

Exports of the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector reached 2.2 billion in 2025. The primary destinations for these exports were United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ( 1.3 billion), Republic of Türkiye ( 161.5 million), and French Republic ( 114.6 million).

In December 2025, the Arts, entertainment and recreation sector recorded exports amounting 41.9 million and imports totaling 63.8 million, resulting in a trade balance deficit of 21.9 million.

Distribution of the Employed

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the percentage distribution of employed people in Arts, entertainment and recreation sector reached 0.3%, with 0.3% for men and 0.5% for women.
